The debutante ball was not held for two years, due to the pandemic caused by the emergence of Covid-19. The latest edition therefore dates back to 2019, specifically when Stella Belmondo entered the luxurious Shangri-La Paris hotel in front of her parents. But on November 25, the big event returned to the capital. A lively evening presented by Stéphane Bern, who was very complicit with his 20 years younger sweetheart: Yori Bailleres, former candidate for Mister Gay Europe (2007) and creator of a dating site The Circle of Socrates. The couple hosted by France Télévisions made it official in June 2021 on the occasion of the Pride March.
The two lovebirds were perfectly matched in two very elegant black tuxedos, as tradition dictates. They were also very well surrounded, especially by the children of the stars, whether Annabel Zimmer, daughter of the famous film score composer Hans Zimmer, Harper Peck, grandson of Gregory Peck, Eleanor Ford Uzielli, descendant of Henry Ford, Leah Isadora Behn, 6th in line of succession in Norwegian throne, but also Natasha Connery, the famous granddaughter of Sean Connery, known for playing James Bond in the 60s.
A social and charitable evening
The event was organized for a good cause, as the funds raised were or will be donated to the Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital’s Fetal Cardiology Research Association and the World Central Kitchen, an NGO that provides meals to victims of natural disasters. As a reminder, Le Bal des Debutantes was launched in the 1950s with the first Franco-American edition. It gathers people of aristocratic origin during the evening, where the rules of dress for men and women are imposed.
If King George III’s version had a few wrinkles, Ophélie Renouard managed to dust it off in the 1990s. The event has since gained a second wind and opened up to other horizons, from Italy to the United States via China. Now it attracts the biggest film personalities, especially from Hollywood.
