Marie Scoubard was born in Vatierville, near Neufchatel-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime) November 13, 1922 in the home of François and Marie Dubois and in a family of 13 children.

Marie entered the world of work at the age of 11 on a farm to help her family, her father died in 1933.

At 18, it’s an exodus. At 20, he will experience food stamps and cold winters.

An only daughter

On June 4, 1949, Marie married Eugène Scoubard, a self-employed worker, and continued to help him on various farms.

She was also a hotel maid and a waitress at family meals. She then worked for 11 years at the ELBE (Lucien Boudin) factory in Foucarmont. From their union, their only daughter Paulette was born in June 1952, and then their grandson Jérôme in 1980, who made the family happy.

In 1982, after 49 years of hard work, Marie deservedly retired at the age of 60. In 2001, after 51 years of marriage, Eugène died suddenly. At the end of August 2017, Marie decided to join the Neufchâtel nursing home.

A century of evolution

Marie has already lived through a century and has seen a great evolution in the last 100 years: from traveling on foot to a man on the moon, from postman on foot to post from a candle to connected devices.
