We are going to the 9th edition of the Fascinating Weekend, from Thursday October 13th to Sunday October 16th.
A short walk around Salagou or a guided visit to the Lodève museum is fun… and familiar. As part of the ninth edition of the Fascinating Weekend, a four-day national event that starts this Thursday, the usual activities in the Hérault Valley, in Clermontais or in Lodévois & Larzac are embellished with a grain of madness.
A little vineyard madness because most of the activities are accompanied by local wine tastings. “The spirit of this event is to highlight winegrowers with the Vignoble et Découverte label”enlightens the tourist office of Clermont which has organized several original excursions for this exceptional occasion, including to the important lake of Salagou or the circus of Mourèze.
“We are in the right place”
The wine country obliges, it will be enough to turn the hearts of wine lovers across the Cœur d’Hérault. “Our territory is rich, emphasizes Noëlle Bardou, facilitator of wine tourism. Slate soil, limestone sylvan: to talk about wines, we are in the right place.” The specialist, who shines throughout the year in Herault, will be at the Lodève museum on Saturday at 5 pm to illustrate with her tastings the visit of the geologist Jean-Claude Bousquet in the geological part of the museum.
“The goal is to discover a place and a local product at the same time”adds Laure Charpentier, mountain guide and olive grower, who will host seven Fascinating weekend events, including a blind olive oil tasting in Aniane.
And still available: bag includes
Since spring, the Comporte, i.e. the vineyard backpack, can be borrowed free of charge for the day at places with the Vignoble & Découverte label: wine estates, tourist offices or accommodation facilities (hotels, campsites, etc.). Family bag par excellence, includes, for children, binoculars, two reusable glasses, Opinel® knife with round tip, magnifying box, vine game; and for parents: a corkscrew, two reusable glasses, a picnic tablecloth… www.languedoc-coeur-herault.fr.
In addition to the variety of operations offered, another special feature of these events is their length: here, walks and meetings very often last half a day or even a day. “We’ve been on the road for a long time, confirms Laure Charpentier. In Salagou, we will take the time to explain why the landscape is shaped this way, to dwell on the little things, before allowing the winemaker from Domaine du Bois Bories to present his work.
The constant movement between the land and the wine it produces is at the heart of these activities, which the local tourist offices would like to repeat, why not, except for this fascinating weekend. “The consequences will be positive for producers, and the climate in our region makes it possible to think about events outside the summer”confirmed by the project managers of the Destination Salagou tourist office.
“Wonderful Fall Event”
The season is very suitable for day trips. “It is a beautiful autumn manifestation, beautiful landscapes, beautiful colors”it is claimed on the side of the tourist office of the Hérault Valley, which specifies that you should not delay booking your privileged moment with nature and the few vintages it produces: the weekend would be less fascinating than expected.
