In March 2022, due to “serious disagreements”, the city of La Baule (Loire-Atlantique) terminated the agreement that bound it from 2019 to the operator of the Bois d’Amour municipal campsite, located in the beautiful surroundings of the Escoublac forest.

The result: the camp remained closed this summer. Only the last 9 bungalow owners who had a one year lease could use this 5 acre site until November 15th.

Now completely unoccupied, what will become of it? His fate was partially decided on Monday, November 28 at the City Council.

30 mobile homes for June 2023

Laurence Briand, assistant in charge of attractiveness, economic development and tourism, actually proposed to the municipal assembly that 2,000 m2, as much as can be exploited, be entrusted to the housing company Podeliha with a low rent for a period of 15 years.

The latter will set up 30 mobile homes there, which from June 2023 will be intended for seasonal workers, while the latter and employers have all the difficulties in the world to find accommodation at affordable prices.

” That are Apartments of 20 m2 of very aesthetic character with wooden coverings and green roofs which will be fully integrated into the spirit of the place. It will consist of a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a private part with a terrace. Each will accommodate two people for a rent of €275 per month per person,” informed the elected official.

“This project gives us the opportunity to offer our local business actors the right solution at very favorable prices starting next summer, even if, of course, it doesn’t solve everything. »

In 2024, ten additional bungalows will expand the offer.

“The priority will be the reception of seasonal workers in the period from April to October. The temporary accommodation offered may be intended, outside of periods of high activity, to accommodate people who face difficulties in finding accommodation, such as students or newcomers,” the deliberations, which were unanimously approved, stated.

Fitness trail and bike trail?

As for the rest of the site, “we will be able to give free rein to our collective imagination,” underlined Annabelle Garand, environmental protection assistant.

“It cannot be built on, it is a wooded area that needs to be preserved, but we can give it a specific purpose. »

Ideas are already emerging, such as extending the fitness trail and creating a bike path from Paul-Minot Avenue to Grand Air High School, a “pre-existing thoroughfare.”
