New hotels and newest members of The Leading Hotels of the World

The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. (LHW) is pleased to welcome seven new members to its collection of over 400 independent luxury hotels. New members this season include a designer retreat in Jakarta, a seaside villa in Carmel (USA), an iconic beach hotel in Tel Aviv, a new all-inclusive resort opening in Zanzibar, a luxury legendary spot on Lake Garda, an eco-pavilion in Costa Rica and a new sustainable hideaway in Menorca.

The fall collection features several new locations for LHW: Jakarta, Zanzibar and Menorca, as well as the ever popular destinations of Italy, Israel and Costa Rica. As always, our goal is to champion the best independent hotels and showcase visionary hospitality in all its forms.

A new destination in the heart of Jakarta

The Orient Jakarta (Jakarta, Indonesia)

Located in the heart of Central Jakarta, this opulent urban retreat opened in October 2021 and features decor inspired by Balinese and Javanese heritage. Bangkok-based designer Bill Bensley blends Eastern tradition with modern motifs such as century-old batiks transformed into oversized patterns, collected antiques and maximalist details to decorate the 72 eclectic guest rooms. A semi-outdoor infinity pool with skyline views and a convenient Tiki bar doubles as a hydrotherapy pool for a therapeutic experience. There are three hotel restaurants: Caspar serves modern Spanish cuisine, Furusato Izakaya offers Japanese cuisine (sashimi, teppanyaki, agemono and curry) and the Library Lounge offers afternoon tea with Asian dishes or a craft cocktail.

Villa Mara Carmel (Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, USA)

Steps from the white sand beach, the 16-bedroom Villa Mara offers an intimate experience that blends comfort and sophistication. The complete renovation of the building, which dates back to 2022, by designer Lisa Koch, promises a tidy arrangement, natural tones and original works of art. Jesena’s Bar serves premium California wines while you admire the lush landscaping, fireplace and water features. Discover the rich artistic culture and elegance of Carmel-by-the-Sea, a very chic little village. You can walk to family-friendly shops and popular restaurants, or venture a little further afield to visit Monterey County wineries or Point Lobos State Nature Preserve for coastal walks.

A gem on the seashore

Dan Tel Aviv (Tel Aviv, Israel)

Overlooking the famous seaside promenade, Dan Tel Aviv embodies the vibrant energy of Israel’s Mediterranean coast. The original hotel dates back to June 1947, when two brothers bought “ Kaete Dan », boarding house with 21 rooms. Today it is a modern hotel that offers contemporary design in a chic atmosphere. The hotel has an indoor pool and an outdoor saltwater pool, D-Breakfast and D-Brasserie, as well as plenty of event space. The property is within walking distance of restaurants, luxury boutiques, popular art galleries and lively nightlife.

A new resort in Zanzibar

Lido Palace (Lake Garda, Italy)

Set in green gardens on Lake Garda, the Lido Palace opened in 1899 and rivals the best hotels in Europe. After a rigorous renovation, the magnificent Belle Époque style was brought back to life and enhanced with modernist contrasts using contemporary materials such as resin, metal and glass. The 42-room hotel offers an understated sense of luxury, modernly designed rooms and suites with stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains, two restaurants, the superb Spa Centoundici (CXI) and two heated swimming pools. Located 80 kilometers from Brescia, a few steps from the historic center of Riva, the hotel is a privileged place for practicing lake and mountain sports, from sailing to cycling.
