A terrible tragedy on Monday morning in Saint-Georges-d’Oléron (Charente Maritime). A wall adjacent to the Les Coquettes campsite and a private property collapsed on three masons who were working to renovate one of the houses in the campsite.
Two men aged 45 and 26, employed by the Gaillard companybased in Saint-Georges, found trapped in the ruins. Despite all the efforts of the ambulance, they could not be revived. The collapse claimed a third victim. A fifteen-year-old teenager on an apprenticeship. Stuck in his lower limbs, firefighters managed to free him. Severely injured, he was transported by helicopter Dragon 17 to the Poitiers University Hospital
40 firefighters, two recovery vehicles, three ambulances, a medical team from Smur and a Dragon 17 civil security helicopter are participating in the rescue operation. Mayor of Saint-Georges-d’Oléron, Dominique Rabelle went there. He joined France Bleu la Rochelle, that is devastated by this tragedy.
